Regulations of Edition One of the Open International Tournament

ARCHIBALD CHESS PROFESSIONAL

The First Open International Tournament ARCHIBALD CHESS PROFESSIONAL is scheduled from May 11 (day of arrival) through May 20 (day of departure), its venue being the Aqua Loo resort hotel, Sochi.
Anyone willing to participate is eligible to apply.
The event benefits everyone looking forward to making international norms.
The tournament is co-organized by OOO Archibald Chess (Chess Amateur International) and The Physical and Sports Public Organization of Sochi SGFSOO Chess Federation.

Tournament Format
The tournament is a round-robin Swiss event featuring 9 rounds.
Time control is 90 minutes plus a 30-second increment beginning with move one. The event is consistent with the FIDE regulations applicable at the moment of running, as well as with the FIDE-approved Anti-Cheating Guidelines backed up by standard measures of security.
There is no negotiating draws between opponents inclusive of move 30.
Place sharing
When two or more participants are sharing points, the tie-breakers are used as follows to define a winner:
1. Buchholz score *
2. Head-to-head encounter;
3. Number of wins;
4. Number of games played as Black;
5. Number of wins scored as Black;
*The truncated Buchholz to be applied (either Buchholz-1 or Buchholz-2) is determined by the computer program immediately after the end of the last game of the ultimate round.
In the case of two or more participants sharing first, the tiebreak is decided by way of top two players with the highest tiebreakers playing an additional match of two games featuring the time control of 10 minutes plus a 5-second increment per move to the end of the game. In the case of an equal score the Armageddon is played with White’s five minutes against Black’s four and a 2-second increment per move beginning with move 60.
Prize Pool
The overall prize pool is 1 835, 000 RUR.
1st prize – 300,000 RUR + the Archibald Cup
2nd prize – 200,000 RUR
3rd prize – 100,000 RUR
4th prize – 80,000 RUR
5th prize – 60,000 RUR
6-10th prize – 40,000 RUR
11-15th prize – 35,000 RUR
16-25th prize – 30,000 RUR
The following groups are entitled to additional prizes (in RUR):
1. Players rated below FIDE ELO 2300:
1st prize – 40,000; 2nd prize – 25,000; 3rd prize – 15,000 RUR
2. Veterans – players born in 1959 and older:
1st prize – 40,000; 2nd prize – 25,000; 3rd prize – 15,000 RUR
3. Women:
1st prize – 40,000; 2nd prize – 25,000; 3rd prize – 15,000 RUR
4. Boys born in 2003 and younger:
1st prize – 40,000; 2nd prize – 25,000; 3rd prize – 15,000 RUR
Members of the Association of Chess Professionals (ACP)
1st prize – 50,000; 2nd prize – 30,000; 3rd prize – 20,000 RUR
There is no sharing of prizes, which are given out in strict adherence to places taken!!
No participant is entitled for more than two prizes
Prizes for АСР members belong to neither main or additional groups, which means that an ACP member can get as many as three!
In case of a participant being entitled to prizes from more than one group, the order of distribution is subject to the organizer’s discretion.
Tournament Fees
The tournament fee for the participants (save for residents of Sochi) not accommodated at the Aqua Loo resort hotel is 15,000 RUR.
Packages for participants and accompanying persons:
For holders of international grandmaster and master titles, FIDE-rated 2500 and above, the cost of participation in the event and accommodation in the hotel (in a double room) amounts to 20,000 RUR, inclusive of three daily meals.
For holders of international grandmaster and master titles, FIDE-rated 2500 and above, the cost of participation in the event and accommodation in the hotel (in a single room) amounts to 29,000 RUR, inclusive of three daily meals.
For other participants the cost of participation in the event and accommodation in the hotel (in a single room) amounts to 38,000 RUR, inclusive of three daily meals.
For other participants the cost of participation in the event and accommodation in the hotel (in a double room) amounts to 29,000 RUR, inclusive of three daily meals.
*International grandmasters, FIDE-rated 2600 and above (but not exceeding 10 persons), are given special conditions, negotiated on a per person basis!
For accompanying persons the cost of accommodation in the hotel (in a double room) amounts to 20,000 RUR, inclusive of three daily meals.
For accompanying persons the cost of accommodation in the hotel (in a double room) amounts to 29,000 RUR, inclusive of three daily meals.
(In the case of booking a double room, the participants or accompanying persons are put together to the organizer’s discretion. No complaining about awkward roommates will be taken into consideration!!!)
There is no refunding of tournament fees

Registration of participants will be taking place exclusively on the official websitechessamateur.ru beginning with April 07, 2019.
After paying the tournament fee please Email the scanned copy of the payment receipt to kirill141282@mail.ru, also mentioning the person’s name for the benefit of who the payment has been made.

Additional information for participants
The registration priority is given to participants and accompanying persons staying at the official tournament hotel (which is resort hotel Aqua Loo).

Settlement of Disputes
The Tournament Committee reserves a right to deny registration to any player for any reason or no reason even if the latter is meeting all requirements for participation. In such cases the tournament fees are refunded in full.
Anti-cheating Measures
At the entrance to the playing hall each participant shall be searched by metal detectors. Carrying in of mobile phones and other digital gadgets is strictly prohibited.
At the end of the game, any participant may be randomly checked for presence of any prohibited devices. A similar check may be authorized by the chief arbiter both after and during the game. If a prohibited device is found on a participant, the offender shall forfeit the game.. A repeated offense results in the participant’s expel from the tournament without refunding of fees.
A player caught using hints from people or digital devices during the game is expelled from the tournament and will never be admitted into events run by OOO Archibald Chess.
The Appeals Committee
The Appeals Committee panel consists of three main and two reserve members. A complaint is be submitted to the appeals committee chairman in writing not later than 30 minutes after the end of the round. The appellant is bound to put forward a cash deposit of 9,000 RUR, which is refunded by the appeals committee in case of upholding the appeal.
No complaints against pairings determined by the drawing of lots will be taken into consideration.
